Art on the Outer Cape

Suddenly it’s summer and I’ve had the pleasure to escape to the outer reaches of Cape Cod for a little getaway. First stop is Provincetown for Gallery Night-every Friday galleries open their doors with a wide variety of art genres to choose from. Two of my favorite stops are the Schoolhouse Gallery on the East End of Commercial Street where there was an opening this past Friday, July 17th, that was going full tilt in conjunction with the ArtSTRAND Gallery which is connected. Hey even director John Waters was checking things out…
Bert Yarborough had a few large mixed media pieces that were very loose and abstract and beautifully executed. In the past I have heard about this artist and now I’m a fan.
These pieces by Maryalice Johnston at the ArtSTRAND were experimental and inspirational and make art look fun and easy-ok that’s easy for me to say…
These wonderful sculptures of strange creatures by Anna Poor at the ArtSRAND are thought provoking and humorous.
This whimsical figurative painting by Erika Wastrom is a wonderful study of simplistic complexity. The Schoolhouse Gallery and ArtSTRAND are both located on Commercial Street in Provincetown just a few blocks East of the Provincetown Art Association and Museum which is free on Friday nights. Get there before summer passes you by…
